Section Two: Pulping Process(Ⅱ)7. The influence of paper material types and compositions

The influence of paper material types and compositions

Different types of fiber raw materials, after being processed by various pulping methods, have different physical properties, structural forms and chemical compositions. The ease of pulping and the properties of the resulting paper sheets also vary. As a key transmission component in papermaking production, the Polyester Plain Woven Mesh Belt will also adjust its adaptability according to the characteristics of the paper materials.

In terms of fiber morphology, the main factors that significantly affect the pulping and paper material properties include fiber length, width, aspect ratio, wall cavity ratio, and sieving. Among these, fiber length has the most significant impact on the paper's tear resistance, and it also has a considerable influence on other strength properties of the paper. Generally, longer fibers with a large aspect ratio have a larger bonding area after pulping, resulting in higher paper strength and better adaptability. The Polyester Plain Woven Mesh Belt with appropriate fine fiber content can further enhance the papermaking forming effect. If the fibers are short and thick, with an aspect ratio less than 45, pulping becomes more difficult, and the paper's strength is also poorer. At this time, a more wear-resistant Polyester Plain Woven Mesh Belt should be selected to reduce the loss of the pulp on the transmission components. An appropriate amount of fine fibers can increase the fiber bonding force and the uniformity and tensile strength of the paper. Excessive cell content can cause the fibers to rupture and form fragments during pulping, which not only affects the paper's strength but also reduces the water filtration performance of the pulp, leading to an increase in the pulping degree and deteriorating the operation performance of the paper machine. This, in turn, raises higher requirements for the water filtration efficiency of the Polyester Plain Woven Mesh Belt.

The ratio of the cavity volume to the cell wall is another important indicator for evaluating the quality of fibers. A smaller cavity volume means a larger cell cavity diameter and a thinner cell wall, resulting in softer fibers. For example, if the proportion of early wood in the raw material is high, during pulping, the fibers are more likely to be crushed and broken into filaments, leading to high paper strength. When paired with high-quality Polyester Plain Woven Mesh Belt, efficient papermaking can be achieved. Conversely, if the proportion of late wood in the raw material is high, meaning a smaller cell cavity and thicker cell walls, the fibers are more rigid, making it difficult to break them into filaments during pulping. During papermaking on the screen, the fibers are prone to sliding, resulting in low fiber adhesion. However, the fibers have high rigidity and are less prone to deformation, and the paper has good stiffness. Generally, a ratio less than 1 is considered good raw material, equal to 1 is considered medium-quality raw material, and greater than 1 is considered inferior raw material. However, the evaluation of the quality of a raw material cannot be based solely on a single indicator.

A comprehensive analysis must be conducted, and a comprehensive comparison method should be adopted for assessment. For example, coniferous wood is a relatively excellent papermaking raw material. One cannot conclude that the quality of grass-based fibers is better than that of coniferous wood just because the fiber length-to-width ratio of coniferous wood is smaller. One must also consider that the fibers of grass-based raw materials are shorter, with an average fiber width that is too small, and they contain a large number of non-cellular components, which is unfavorable for the properties of the paper. At the same time, specific specifications and parameters of Polyester Plain Woven Mesh Belt must be selected based on the raw material.
