Section Two: Pulping Process (Ⅰ) 2.Characteristics of the slurry for four types of pulping methods

1. Long fiber free-state pulping
This pulping method is mainly focused on dispersion. The aim is to disperse the fibers in the pulp into single fibers as much as possible. Only appropriate cutting is needed, and the fiber length should be maintained as much as possible. There is no need for excessive fine fiberization. This type of pulp has good dewatering properties and good paper absorption, high permeability, and suitable woven dryer screens can be selected with medium-sized aperture specifications to balance the dewatering efficiency and fiber retention effect. Due to the long fibers, the paper quality is not very uniform, the surface is not very smooth, the opacity is high, it has good tear strength and burst strength, the size stability of the paper is good, and the deformation is small. This type of paper material is mostly used to produce paper with higher mechanical strength, such as kraft packaging paper, cable paper, industrial filter paper, etc. In the production of these types of paper, the woven dryer screens used need to have strong wear resistance to cope with long-term high-intensity operation.

2. Long fiber viscose pulping
The fibers should be highly fibrillated, and good swelling and hydration should be achieved to make the fibers soft and malleable, with a slippery texture. Efforts should be made to avoid fiber cutting as much as possible, so that the fibers can maintain a certain length. This paper material has a high pulp consistency, difficult dehydration, long fibers, and is prone to agglomeration when being laid down, which affects the uniformity of the paper. Therefore, low concentration laying is required, and the corresponding Woven Dryer Screen should be selected with high air permeability to help improve the dehydration efficiency. The paper has high strength and low absorbency, and can be used to produce high-grade thin papers such as imitation parchment paper, dictionary paper, telephone paper, oil-resistant paper, tracing paper, etc. The production of high-grade thin papers has a high requirement for the surface smoothness of the Woven Dryer Screen to ensure the quality of the paper surface.

3. Free-flowing short fiber pulping
The fibers should be cut into numerous pieces to prevent the pulp from swelling and the formation of fine fibers. This type of paper material dries easily, the tissue structure of the paper is uniform, the paper sheet is relatively soft, the strength is not high, and the absorption capacity is strong. This kind of pulp is suitable for making paper products with strong absorption capacity and high tissue uniformity, such as filter paper, ink-absorbing paper, steel paper base paper, and impregnated insulating paper, etc.

4. Short fiber paste pulping
The fibers should be highly fibrillated, hydrated and swollen, and appropriately cut to make the fibers soft, pliable and slippery. This kind of paper material is difficult to remove water during drying, has good paper uniformity, has considerable strength, and is suitable for making cigarette paper, capacitor paper and securities paper, etc.
The above four types of pulping methods merely represent four typical approaches. In actual production, the specific pulping method needs to be selected based on the type of pulp, the requirements of the product, and the condition of the paper machine. At the same time, the parameters of the Woven Dryer Screen should be matched specifically to ensure a perfect fit between the drying process and the characteristics of the pulp, ultimately improving the quality of the finished paper and the production efficiency.
