This is the most popular family of 2.5 Layer (x-pick). These fabrics offer more fiber support index because of an additional fine filler yarn added on the top layer. The top & bottom weft ratio remains 2:1. 16-shed Two and half layer forming wire is used for producing quality printing paper, such as offset printing paper, copperplate paper, newsprint, aluminum foil backing paper and cigarette paper series ( wrap paper and filter tips paper), also be used for producing toilet paper, tissue paper and surface pulp, lining pulp, core pulp and bottom pulp of the board paper etc. Suitable for medium and high speed paper making machine. Without sacrificing drainage characteristic this fabric caters to increased demand of higher fabric and filler retention. This design provides higher fiber support index compared to double layer design. This is achieved by providing an extra support shoot (small cross direction yarn) on the topside of double layer construction. This reduces the distance between the two top yarns and provides better support to cellulosic fiber. This fabric is used for making fine quality paper. 16 shaft 2.5 layer provides higher abrasion and increases the running time.
